Over the past decade Martin has occupied positions with four of the world’s leading sovereign wealth funds, most recently as the Chief Investment Officer and initial employee of the Emirates Investment Authority - the sole SWF for the UAE Federal Government. He has also been Director, Head of Group Asset Management and Chairman of the Investment Committee at the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), Advisor to the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC), and Senior Investment Advisor to the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). In a career spanning 28 years in asset management Martin also occupied key roles with leading firms on both the buy and sell sides of the industry; developing successful fundamental and quantitative strategies across asset classes at the leading edge for a blue-chip, global clientele. As a Global Partner at Invesco, Martin established a freestanding quantitative investment team acquired as a transfer of undertakings from Bankers Trust Investment Management Ltd., where he had been Director of Equities, Pension Funds and Head of International Structured Products. Previously, he was an Assistant Director at Schroder Investment Management Ltd, responsible for specialist UK equities and balanced funds. Martin began his career at Shell and subsequently developed it as an investment analyst, first in stockbroking and then at the BP Pension Trust. Martin holds a tripartite honours degree in PPE from Magdalen College, Oxford University, where he was an Exhibitioner, studied for an accelerated MBA in the US as an exchange student and scholar, holds an MBA from Cass Business School, a MSc in Finance from London Business School and pursued doctoral research in Financial Economics at London University. Martin is an Associate of the UK Society of Investment Professionals and a Regular Member of CFA Institute. |
